Porcelain Crowns: Patient # 2
Description
Porcelain Crowns are a way to restore strength and longevity back to a weakened tooth, shielding it from further trauma or decay. This case is featuring an older patient that was seeking to revive their severely worn, heavily stained, misaligned, and broken smile. The patient's teeth overtime have suffered from intense grinding resulting in breaks, cracks, and chips. The highlighted expectations were to improve not only the health, but overall appearance of the teeth, which Dr. Goodman treated with Porcelain Crowns. The patient requested that the Porcelain Crowns be a lighter shade to brighten their smile. The darker colored teeth are older dental Porcelain Crowns that were not requiring replacement at the time. The material of Porcelain Crowns are not able to lighten or change shade once they are constructed. It is always recommended to put thought into whether Teeth Whitening is desired before completing any long term restorations or Cosmetic procedure. If one wanted to subtly lighten post-treatment, the material of Porcelain Crowns and Porcelain Veneers usually blend well as long as there isn't a drastic difference in shade.
